Blizzard Grounds More Than 110 Flights at RDU
Concerns are emerging among Wake County parents after newly unsealed court documents named Leon Black, the former CEO of Apollo Global Management, in connection with Jeffrey Epstein. Apollo-managed funds later acquired Shutterfly, the parent company of school photography brands Lifetouch and Jostens.
While there is no allegation involving the photography companies themselves, some parents say the financial link has raised red flags about student privacy and image security. A petition is circulating that calls on the district to suspend existing contracts and consider local alternatives.
Lifetouch has rejected claims of any connection to Epstein and emphasized that Apollo does not participate in its day-to-day operations or have access to student photographs. The company said its acquisition by Apollo-managed funds occurred after Epstein’s arrest and death.
Wake County Public Schools said photography contracts are determined at the school level and include protections for student images. The district is working to address parent concerns and encourages families to speak directly with school administrators.

North Carolina's Early Voting: What You Need to Know for the 2026 Primaries
Early voting for North Carolina’s March primary is now underway, giving residents additional flexibility ahead of Election Day.
During the early voting period, voters may cast a ballot at any early voting site within their county. That differs from Election Day, when registered voters must report to their assigned polling place. Early voting also allows eligible residents to register and vote at the same time through same-day registration.
For the March 2026 primary election, in-person early voting began Thursday, Feb. 12, and runs through 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28. Election Day is Tuesday, March 3.
With just days remaining before early voting concludes, county election officials are encouraging voters to review site locations and hours and make a plan to cast their ballot.
