Hello Edinburgh, Scotland!
Gateway to Castles and Ancient Volcanoes

Welcome to Edinburgh, Scotland, where medieval magic meets modern energy on cobblestone streets. This stunning capital sits between rolling hills and the sea, crowned by a castle perched on volcanic rock.

While there are no direct flights from RDU (Raleigh-Durham) to Edinburgh Airport (EDI), you can easily reach this historic city with one connection through major hubs. Whether you're drawn to centuries-old fortresses, literary legends, or the chance to climb an extinct volcano right in the heart of the city, Edinburgh promises unforgettable experiences around every corner.

Why Visit Edinburgh?

  • Edinburgh Castle:
This 12th-century fortress towers over the city from its dramatic perch atop Castle Rock, an extinct volcano. Explore the Crown Jewels, hear the famous One O'Clock Gun fire, and take in sweeping views of the city below—this is Scotland's most visited attraction for good reason.

  • The Royal Mile:
Stretching from Edinburgh Castle to the Palace of Holyroodhouse, this famous cobblestone street is the beating heart of the Old Town. Wander through narrow alleyways called "closes," discover hidden courtyards, and stop by St Giles' Cathedral with its stunning Gothic architecture and colorful history.

  • Arthur's Seat:
Just 30 minutes from the city center in Holyrood Park, this 251-meter-high peak is the remains of a 350-million-year-old volcano. The moderately easy hike rewards you with jaw-dropping 360-degree views of Edinburgh, from the castle to the sea—a bucket-list experience that's free and accessible year-round.
