Explore The Cary Theater

The Cary Theater is a special place to experience movies and live performances without going far. This historic downtown gem has 175 seats and welcomes everyone looking for something different than typical mall cinemas.

Built back in 1946 as Cary's first indoor movie theater, this building has quite a story. After serving as a clothing store, auto parts shop, and recording studio over the years, the Town of Cary brought it back to life in 2014. Now the classic marquee lights up downtown again with independent films, documentaries, and classic movies that you won't find at regular theaters.

But it's not just about films. The stage comes alive with comedy shows, live music performances, and community events throughout the year. Whether you're catching an indie film on a Friday night or laughing at a stand-up comedy show, there's always something happening at The Cary.

If you love movies, you might want to check out their Film Circle membership program. For $50 a year, you get discounted tickets, early access to events, and two free film vouchers just for joining. Members also get special birthday vouchers and discounts at downtown shops.

Each September, The Cary hosts the BEYOND Film Festival, showcasing local filmmakers and celebrating homegrown talent. It's a great way to see what creative folks in North Carolina are making.

The Answer to the Cary Spotlight Hook Trivia Question 👇👇👇
Cary, North Carolina, was named after Samuel Fenton Cary, a U.S. congressman from Ohio and a well-known 19th-century temperance advocate who campaigned against alcohol consumption. The town’s founder, Allison Francis “Frank” Page, admired Cary’s moral leadership and chose to name the community in his honor when the railroad stop was established in the mid-1800s. This historical connection reflects Cary’s early roots in civic virtue and community values that continue to shape the town today.
