Cary Spotlight Reader’s Feedback:
“I ate there last week and had the trout over spaghetti. Trout was fresh and delicious, pasta could have used more sauce and zip but overall very good. Lovely waitress took good care of us. ”
“The food and atmosphere are worth the visit. Sometimes the staff can be sparse/in training but that's most restaurants these days.”
“Reliable and a bit creative. Good place to meet friends or colleagues - and have a conversation. ”
“Love the library/ living room area for intimate dining or drinking. Delicious food, beautiful space. Great location. ”
“The food is delicious. The servers are excellent! They’re great with my gluten allergy, and the view of the park is incredible!”

State Fair Ride Stops Due to Computer Fault
On the first day of the North Carolina State Fair, the Vertigo ride was briefly shut down due to a computer-related malfunction. The ride's safety systems performed as intended, safely stopping the ride and allowing for a controlled evacuation of passengers.
Response teams arrived quickly, and within ten minutes, all riders were manually lowered and brought down safely. Inspectors from the NC Department of Labor were on-site to oversee the process and confirmed that the ride was safe for continued operation.
State officials underscored their commitment to safety, noting that their teams have spent more than 800 hours inspecting and monitoring rides throughout the fair. Daily safety checks are in place to ensure a secure experience for all attendees.
Community Invited to Honor Loved Ones
Cary will host its annual Día de los Muertos celebration from October 24 to November 2, welcoming the community to participate in honoring loved ones through a week of events. At the center of the celebration is a community altar, where participants can add personal photos or mementos in remembrance of those who have passed.
The highlight of the week comes on November 1 at 6 p.m. with a celebration featuring $5 margaritas, a live DJ, face painting—including sugar skull designs—and ongoing giveaways. A Plinko board will offer chances to win prizes and gift certificates.
The event is open to all, with no reservations required for small parties. However, groups of six or more are encouraged to reserve in advance either online or by calling 984-200-3469.
Día de los Muertos is a cultural tradition that celebrates life and memory with joy, reflection, and community, and this year’s event aims to bring those values to Cary in a festive and inclusive way.
Just curious…
We’d love to know how you connect with green spaces at home or in the community.

Manaka’s Hat Trick Powers NC Courage in Playoff Push
A thrilling weekend of soccer saw the North Carolina Courage light up the scoreboard in California, while North Carolina FC locked down a clean sheet at home in their playoff chase.
Weekend Highlights:
North Carolina Courage stormed past Bay FC 4-1 behind a hat trick from Manaka Matsukubo, keeping playoff hopes alive. With 10 goals this season, Manaka now sits tied for third in the Golden Boot race.
Ashley Sanchez and Meredith Speck added key assists as the Courage struck twice in the first eight minutes. Shinomi Koyama added a second-half goal, scoring in back-to-back games.
NCFC played to a 0-0 draw with Rhode Island FC in their final regular season home match. A tactical switch to a four-back defense helped limit Rhode Island to just two shots on goal.
Despite the draw, NCFC remains in the hunt for a home playoff match, with one last regular season game next Saturday at Loudoun United.

The Answer to the Cary Spotlight Hook Trivia Question 👇👇👇
The stethoscope was invented by René Laennec, a French physician, in 1816. He created the device as a non-invasive way to listen to a patient’s heartbeat and breathing when direct auscultation (placing the ear on the chest) was not appropriate. His original stethoscope was a wooden tube, but it laid the foundation for the modern stethoscope used today by doctors worldwide. Over time, the design evolved into the familiar binaural instrument used in healthcare today.
