How to Protect Your Body From Everyday Toxins

From air pollution and plastics to trace chemicals in food and personal care products, everyday toxins are hard to avoid. Over time, they can burden the liver, lungs, skin, kidneys, and digestive system, contributing to fatigue, mental fog, and stubborn weight gain. While avoiding them entirely isn’t realistic, small daily habits can help the body manage their impact.

One simple practice is starting the day with a glass of warm water mixed with fresh lemon juice or a pinch of unrefined sea salt. This routine promotes hydration, stimulates digestion, and supports the body’s natural detox pathways. Lemon adds vitamin C, which helps the liver strengthen its antioxidant defenses. Keeping a glass by the bedside can make the habit effortless.

Some people also add targeted supplements for extra support. Formulas containing chlorophyllin, milk thistle, and dandelion root are designed to help the liver filter pollutants and repair cells. These ingredients have long been studied for their role in detoxification.

Other practical steps include eating cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, Brussels sprouts, or kale to activate liver enzymes, exercising regularly to promote sweating, and swapping conventional cleaning or personal-care products for non-toxic alternatives.

Together, these measures can reduce daily exposure and strengthen the body’s natural defenses.

These items were distributed nationwide under popular brands like Hillshire and Jimmy Dean. (Read Recall Notice)

Albertsons is pulling various deli-style pasta and chicken dishes tied to a Listeria contamination source traced back to a recalled ingredient. Though no illnesses have been reported, consumers are advised to check product codes and discard affected items. (Read Recall Notice)

The USDA has flagged Marketside’s prepackaged linguine and meatballs meal for potential Listeria contamination. The affected products have clear expiration dates and should not be consumed. (Read Recall Notice)

Separately, Sprout Organics has expanded its baby food pouch recall over elevated lead levels. Parents should look out for specific best-by dates and return or dispose of impacted pouches sold at Walgreens. (Read Recall Notice)
