Kia and Hyundai Owners in Cary Warned of Rising Theft Risk
A surge in vehicle break-ins in Fuquay-Varina has drawn the attention of police, who report that suspects are focusing on Kia and Hyundai models made between 2011 and 2021. Many of these vehicles do not have built-in anti-theft immobilizers, making them easier to steal compared with other cars.
The break-ins have largely occurred in apartment complexes, where suspects break windows to take valuables and, in some instances, drive away with the entire vehicle. Police are urging residents to secure their cars, check for available software upgrades, and avoid leaving items inside.
Although the problem has been most visible in Fuquay-Varina, Cary residents with the same makes and models are equally vulnerable. The issue reflects a broader national trend of thefts involving older Hyundai and Kia vehicles.
Police are asking owners of these makes and models to check if software upgrades are available for their cars.
This can be done by visit the Hyundai anti-theft web page and the Kia customer care web page.
Cary drivers are encouraged to take preventive steps, such as parking in well-lit areas, using steering wheel locks, and reporting suspicious behavior. Taking action now could reduce the risk of becoming a target. Read Full Report

Cary Squads Come Up Short in Hard-Fought Battles
It was a tough Saturday night for Cary soccer fans, as both the NC Courage and North Carolina FC suffered narrow defeats. Here’s how the action unfolded for both clubs.

Africa is the continent with the most countries—54 recognized sovereign nations, more than any other continent. Stretching from the Mediterranean Sea in the north to the Southern Ocean in the south, Africa is incredibly diverse, with a wide range of languages, cultures, landscapes, and ecosystems. From vast deserts like the Sahara to lush rainforests and savannas, Africa is also home to the Nile River (the world’s longest) and iconic wildlife like elephants, lions, and giraffes.
