5 Tips to Beat the Heat with Mindful Hydration

Here are five ways to drink enough water all summer long, even when it feels super hot outside.

1️⃣ Set Water Goals: Try to drink at least half your body weight in ounces of water each day. If you weigh 100 pounds, that's 50 ounces! Drink even more if you're playing outside, sweating a lot, or being active. You can use a water app on your phone or get a big water bottle with lines that show how much to drink by different times of the day.

2️⃣ Make Water Taste Better: If plain water is boring, make it fun! Add fresh fruits, herbs, or vegetables to your water. Try cucumber with mint, lemon with berries, or orange with basil. It's like making your own special summer drink!

3️⃣ Eat Water-Rich Foods: You can get water from food too! Eat fruits and vegetables that have lots of water in them. Watermelon, strawberries, oranges, cucumbers, and celery are all yummy ways to get more water into your body.

4️⃣ Replace What You Lose: When it's hot outside, you sweat more and lose important minerals called electrolytes. You can drink special sports drinks or coconut water to put these back in your body. This is really important after you've been playing outside or exercising.

5️⃣ Don't Forget to Drink: It's easy to forget to drink water when you're having fun in the summer. Set alarms on your phone to remind you, or get a smart water bottle that will remind you to take sips all day long.

Bread Recall Issued After Hazelnuts Found

Lewis Bake Shop Artisan Style 1/2 Loaf bread, sold at Walmart and Kroger, has been recalled in 12 states due to undeclared hazelnuts. The bread, made by Hartford Bakery Inc., was found to contain the allergen despite labeling that only mentioned generic tree nuts. A total of 883 affected loaves have been identified.

The recalled products were distributed in states including Georgia, Tennessee, and Kentucky. Although North Carolina is not among the affected areas, residents should stay informed, particularly if traveling or if family or friends live in those regions.

The FDA notes that while no serious injuries have been reported, one person experienced mild digestive symptoms, and others reported seeing hazelnuts in the product. The recall covers 12 lot codes, visible on the front of the bread's plastic packaging.

Consumers are advised to return the affected bread to the point of purchase and avoid consumption if they have hazelnut allergies. Read full story
