Cary Ranks Among Top U.S. Cities for Job Seekers
A new SmartAsset study has ranked Cary as one of the best cities in the U.S. for job seekers, placing it seventh out of 348 cities analyzed. Using 2023 data from the U.S. Census Bureau, the study assessed job markets based on unemployment, income levels, wage growth, remote work, health coverage, and commute times.
Cary emerged as a standout city across multiple economic and workforce metrics:
Remote work leadership: Nearly 28 percent of workers (27,469 employees) work from home, the highest proportion among all cities examined
Strong employment: Maintained a low unemployment rate of just 3.5 percent
Income growth: Experienced a 23 percent increase in median income between 2020 and 2023, reaching $47,203
Health coverage: 86.63 percent of workers have private health insurance through their employer
Commute efficiency: Average commute time is 23 minutes
The top-ranked city, Bend, Oregon, showed even stronger wage growth and low unemployment, while Richmond, Virginia, saw the biggest jump in median income. Additional highlights included cities like Santa Clara, California, for health coverage, and Wichita Falls, Texas, for short commutes.
These findings add to Cary's growing reputation as a top place to live and work, with job market resilience and quality-of-life factors playing a major role in its appeal. Read Full Story

Courage Battle Weather, NCFC Falls Late in Home Matches
It was a weekend of tight finishes and tough breaks for Cary’s pro soccer teams, as both the North Carolina Courage and NCFC faced off at home under challenging skies and strong competition.
Weekend Recap Highlights:
North Carolina Courage and Tigres UANL Femenil played to a 0-0 draw Wednesday in an international friendly that ended early in the 77th minute due to heavy rain. Both teams had solid chances, including efforts from Cortnee Vine and Manaka Matsukubo, but couldn’t convert before the storm rolled in.
Making her first start of the season, Marisa Jordan stood tall in net for the Courage, delivering multiple key saves to preserve the clean sheet. Brooklyn Courtnall also made her pro debut in the match.
On Friday, North Carolina FC fell 3-2 to Birmingham Legion FC, ending their four-match unbeaten run against the Alabama side. Pedro Dolabella opened scoring in front of his dad, but Birmingham answered just before halftime and surged ahead early in the second half.
Evan Conway pulled one back late for NCFC on an assist from Adam Luckhurst, but time ran out before they could find the equalizer. The loss keeps NCFC at 23 points and in fourth place in the USL Championship East
Rain or shine, Cary’s soccer scene keeps fans on their toes and proud of their home teams!

The Answer to the Cary Spotlight Hook Trivia Question 👇👇👇
Saturn is the only planet in our solar system that could float in water—if you could find a bathtub big enough! This is because Saturn is made mostly of gases like hydrogen and helium, giving it an extremely low density—even lower than water. Despite being the second-largest planet, it's so light for its size that it would float like a giant beach ball in a vast enough body of water.
