Hello, Mexico City!
Ancient Pyramids and Modern Culture

Welcome to Mexico City, a place where ancient pyramids rise within sight of gleaming skyscrapers, where world-class museums rival Paris for sheer number, and where street tacos share the spotlight with Michelin-starred restaurants. With daily direct flights from Raleigh-Durham (RDU) to Mexico City's Benito Juárez International Airport (MEX) via Aeromexico, exploring this cultural capital has never been easier. Whether you're drawn by pre-Columbian history, revolutionary art, or the incredible food scene, Mexico City offers an endless feast for the senses.

Why Visit Mexico City?

  • Teotihuacán Pyramids: Just outside the city, this formidable pre-Columbian site rivals the Pyramids of Egypt in size, beauty and historic importance. Climb the massive Pyramid of the Sun and explore the Avenue of the Dead at this UNESCO World Heritage site that predates the Aztecs.

  • Historic Center (Centro Histórico): Home to the Aztec Templo Mayor, this area is a highlight for vacationers who simply enjoy walking through the Zócalo, the world's third largest square behind Moscow's Red Square and Beijing's Tiananmen Square. Marvel at the stunning Metropolitan Cathedral and discover layers of history beneath your feet.

  • Chapultepec Park and Museums: Complete with a zoo and many museums, including the National Museum of Anthropology, regarded as one of the world's most important museums dedicated to ancient cultures. This massive park also houses Chapultepec Castle, offering panoramic views of the sprawling metropolis below.

Explore Dorothea Dix Park Sunflowers

Get ready for one of summer's most stunning shows! Every July, Dorothea Dix Park transforms into a golden paradise when five acres of sunflowers burst into bloom. This magical display draws over 100,000 visitors from across North Carolina, making it one of the Triangle's most beloved seasonal traditions. The massive 308-acre park sits right at the edge of downtown Raleigh, giving you the perfect mix of natural beauty and city skyline views.

The sunflowers usually bloom for two weeks in July, creating the perfect backdrop for photos, family outings, and peaceful walks. The sunflower field serves as a massive pollinator habitat for bees, butterflies and other wildlife, so you'll see plenty of busy pollinators enjoying the flowers alongside you. Early in the morning or late in the evening are the best times to visit when crowds are lighter and the lighting is perfect for those Instagram-worthy shots.

The park offers so much more than just sunflowers! You can explore the wide-open Big Field perfect for flying kites, enjoy a picnic under the shade of mature oak trees, or take in the stunning views of downtown Raleigh's skyline. Well behaved, leashed pets are welcome, making this a great spot for the whole family. There are also walking paths throughout the park where you can stretch your legs and discover historic buildings from the site's past as a hospital campus.

Good to Know:

Location: 1987 Umstead Dr., Raleigh, NC 27603 | Directions
Hours: Dawn to dusk, seven days a week (sunflowers typically bloom mid-July for about two weeks)
Amenities: Temporary restrooms near sunflower field entrances, indoor restrooms at visitor center, free parking, designated walking paths

Tip: Wear closed-toe shoes for your safety as the fields are a mix of dirt, grass and some rocks. Bring sunscreen, water, and bug spray. For the perfect time to have the sunflowers opening towards you, with the Raleigh skyline in the backdrop, visit at 1:00 PM or later.

The Answer to the Cary Spotlight Hook Trivia Question 👇👇👇
Magnesium plays a vital role in brain health, particularly in neurotransmission, memory formation, and protection against overstimulation of nerve cells. It helps regulate NMDA receptors, which are involved in learning and memory. A deficiency in magnesium has been linked to brain fog, anxiety, and even cognitive decline, making it an essential mineral for both mental clarity and long-term brain function.
