Two Housing Projects Up for Review by Cary’s Zoning Board
The Cary Planning and Zoning Board is set to review two rezoning proposals during its June 23 meeting. Although the Board does not have final authority, its recommendations are a key step in the Town Council’s decision-making process. The meeting will be held in person and streamed online, but no public comment will be taken.
One proposal would rezone a 10-acre portion of the Regency Park Planned Development District, currently designated for office use, to allow up to 245 multifamily units. The application includes conditions such as providing affordable housing, meeting green building standards, and building a multimodal path. This site would remain under the Swift Creek Watershed Protection Overlay District.
The other rezoning request involves annexing two parcels on Barbee Road and assigning Cary Residential 12 Conditional Use zoning. The applicant intends to build up to 14 single-family homes on large lots, with watershed protections from the Jordan Lake Overlay remaining in place. Both cases will be assessed for alignment with the Imagine Cary Community Plan. Meeting’s Agenda | Streaming Live (June 23 at 5PM)

The Answer to the Cary Spotlight Hook Trivia Question 👇👇👇
Salt was once so valuable that it was used as currency in many ancient civilizations. The word “salary” even comes from the Latin salarium, which referred to payments made to Roman soldiers for purchasing salt. Its essential role in preserving food and maintaining health made it a prized commodity long before refrigeration. In parts of Africa and Asia, salt bricks and cakes were traded like coins for goods and services.
