Hello, Reykjavik! A Gateway to Iceland’s Wonders
Reykjavik, the world’s northernmost capital, is a place where glaciers and geysers, Viking folklore and sleek modern design all swirl together in one unforgettable adventure.
This compact yet captivating city is the perfect launchpad for discovering Iceland’s otherworldly landscapes—from steaming lava fields to thundering waterfalls. And here’s something exciting for local travelers: there are direct flights from RDU (Raleigh-Durham International Airport) to Reykjavik’s Keflavik Airport (KEF), making this Arctic escape easier than ever.
Why Visit Reykjavik?
The Blue Lagoon Experience: Just a short drive from the airport, this iconic geothermal spa offers a surreal soak in mineral-rich waters surrounded by black lava rock. It’s the ultimate welcome (or farewell) to Iceland and a must for first-time visitors.
The Northern Lights: From fall through early spring, Reykjavik becomes one of the best places in the world to catch the aurora borealis. Join a guided tour or head just beyond the city lights for a chance to witness nature’s most magical light show.
Golden Circle Day Trips: Reykjavik is the perfect base for exploring Iceland’s famed Golden Circle. See the tectonic drama of Þingvellir National Park, the explosive Geysir geothermal area, and the mighty Gullfoss waterfall—all in a single, breathtaking day.

Explore Lake Crabtree County Park

Lake Crabtree County Park is a great place to enjoy the outdoors without driving too far. The park is over 500 acres and includes a large lake, perfect for relaxing or having fun.
You can walk, run, or bike on more than 16 miles of easy trails. The paths are mostly flat, so they’re great for beginners, families, and leashed dogs.
If you like being on the water, bring your kayak, canoe, or paddleboard — launching is free. Many people also enjoy fishing from the pier or the quiet spots along the shore.
Look up! You might see birds like herons, ospreys, or even a bald eagle. Bring binoculars if you have them.
Need a break? There are picnic areas, a playground, and a sand volleyball court where you can rest or play.

The Answer to the Cary Spotlight Hook Trivia Question 👇👇👇
In Japan, train pushers—known as oshiya—are hired to gently but firmly push passengers into crowded subway cars during rush hours. This unique job began in Tokyo to manage the massive flow of commuters and ensure trains leave on time. Wearing uniforms and white gloves, oshiya help pack riders into every inch of space, turning an everyday commute into a highly choreographed routine that’s both efficient and a bit surreal to watch.
