Cary Celebrates Transportation Week

The Town of Cary marked National Transportation Week by highlighting its extensive and growing mobility infrastructure. With over 500 miles of sidewalks, 520 miles of streets, and 95+ miles of greenways, the town’s transportation network is one of the region’s most robust. Public transit through GoCary includes eight fixed routes and door-to-door services, offering clean, safe, and reliable mobility for all users.

Cary is also a regional leader in sustainability, using biodiesel across its fleet and earning state recognition through the NC Smart Fleet program. The town has reduced its petroleum usage by over 100,000 gallons annually and has offset more than 3,600 metric tons of CO₂ since 2011. With electric vehicle charging infrastructure in place and hybrid fleet upgrades underway, Cary’s commitment to a greener future is visible on multiple fronts.

Whether traveling by foot, bike, bus, or car, residents benefit from a transportation system that’s actively evolving to meet the town’s needs. Investments in safety, accessibility, and emissions reduction continue to shape Cary into a community that not only moves— but moves with purpose.

The Answer to the Cary Spotlight Hook Trivia Question 👇👇👇
Rita Levi-Montalcini was an Italian neurologist who won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1986 for her discovery of nerve growth factor (NGF), a protein crucial for the growth and survival of nerve cells. Her groundbreaking work helped advance our understanding of cell growth, development, and neurological disorders. Remarkably, she conducted much of her early research in a makeshift home lab during World War II while in hiding from fascist persecution. Levi-Montalcini continued working into her 100s, becoming a global symbol of scientific perseverance and excellence.
