Cary Teen Charged After Allegedly Setting Three Fires
Authorities in Cary have charged an 18-year-old resident with starting three fires along a local greenway trail over the weekend. According to court records, the suspect allegedly tossed a lit cigarette into a wooded area near Swanquater Drive, leading to multiple fires.
Firefighters and emergency crews responded promptly, ensuring the flames were contained before spreading further. No injuries or structural damage were reported.
Beyond the fire-related offense, the suspect also faces a misdemeanor charge for underage alcohol consumption. Following the arrest, a $10,000 secured bond was issued. The next court appearance is scheduled for April 14 at the Wake County Justice Center.
The case raises concerns about fire safety during dry conditions and the potential risks of reckless behavior in wooded areas. Read Full Report

A 16-year-old dog, both blind and deaf, found himself in a dangerous situation after wandering away from home and slipping into a storm drain in Cary. Fortunately, quick-thinking neighbors, Cary Animal Services, and the Cary Fire Department came to his rescue.
The small dog, Duffy, was seen navigating the edge of a road before vanishing into a culvert. A neighbor immediately alerted Cary Animal Services and contacted his owner, who was not home at the time. Rescue teams arrived quickly, but the operation became more challenging when Duffy retreated further into the drain system.
With specialized equipment on hand, firefighters prepared to enter the storm drain. Just as they were getting ready to act, Duffy suddenly emerged on his own, as if sensing the ordeal was over. He was lifted safely into the arms of his relieved owner.
Though wet and cold, Duffy was unharmed and is now back home, hopefully steering clear of any more unexpected adventures. Read Full Report
