Cary’s GLOW Parade to Illuminate Downtown with Art and Community Spirit

Downtown Cary Park will shine brightly on Saturday, February 1, as the community gathers for the fourth annual GLOW: Under the Silver Moon Parade. The event, rescheduled due to inclement weather, promises an evening of art, music, and shared celebration as participants parade through the park with handmade paper lanterns.

The festivities begin at 6:00 p.m. on Frantz Square Lawn, with the parade commencing at 6:15 p.m. Attendees will marvel at the artistry of glowing lanterns while enjoying live performances by the Bulltown Strutters, One Tribe Rhythms, and Caroleeena’s Circle of Joy. Food trucks will be stationed throughout the park, providing a variety of dining options for all ages.

This family-friendly event offers a unique opportunity for Cary residents to come together, celebrating light and creativity in a way that transcends cultural and linguistic boundaries. Downtown streets will be safely closed for the parade, ensuring an inclusive environment for participants and spectators alike.

Organizers remind attendees that pets, fire, and candle-lit lanterns are not permitted in the parade for safety reasons. The event showcases Cary’s vibrant arts scene while creating a magical moment of connection among friends, neighbors, and newcomers.

Whether walking with a lantern or cheering from the sidelines, every participant contributes to this unforgettable celebration of community spirit and creativity.

North Carolina Courage Sign Rising Japanese Star Shinomi Koyama

The North Carolina Courage have made a significant addition to their squad by signing Japanese midfielder Shinomi Koyama in a transfer from Swedish club Djurgårdens IF. The 19-year-old, who captained Japan to a silver medal in the 2024 FIFA U-20 World Cup, has signed a three-year contract through the 2027 season.

Koyama’s youth and international experience make her a valuable asset. She played nearly every minute of Japan’s U-20 World Cup campaign, demonstrating her versatility in both midfield and defensive roles. Her professional career began in Japan’s WE League, followed by stints with Kobe Leonessa and Cezero Osaka before her recent success in Sweden, where she netted four goals in 21 appearances during the 2024 season.

Koyama also boasts senior international experience, having debuted for Japan’s national team in 2022 and earning a call-up in late 2024. She will join an already strong Courage lineup, complementing players like Denise O’Sullivan and Riley Jackson. Fans can anticipate Koyama bringing precision, tactical acumen, and leadership to Cary as the team continues to strengthen its roster for the upcoming NWSL season. Read Full Report

Triangle Restaurant Week Brings Foodies Together with 80+ Local Eateries

Triangle Restaurant Week has kicked off its winter edition, bringing together more than 80 restaurants across Raleigh, Durham, Cary, Knightdale, and Chapel Hill. This annual celebration, running through February 2, showcases the culinary creativity of local eateries with special two- to four-course menus designed to entice diners during the winter season.

Familiar favorites like Tribeca Tavern and Sullivan’s Steakhouse are participating again, while the absence of City Club Raleigh, which closed in 2024, marks a bittersweet note. The event offers a chance for residents to explore new dining experiences and reconnect with cherished establishments, all while giving the local restaurant industry a seasonal boost.

Reservations are recommended due to high demand, and a complete list of participating venues and their offerings can be found on the Triangle Restaurant Week website. This celebration of food underscores the Triangle’s reputation as a hub for culinary excellence and community connection.

The Answer to the Cary Spotlight Hook Trivia Question 👇👇👇

A nebula is a vast cloud of gas and dust in space, often serving as the birthplace of stars. These regions, rich in hydrogen and helium, collapse under their own gravity, forming dense cores that ignite nuclear fusion to create new stars. Some nebulae, such as the Orion Nebula, are visible from Earth and offer stunning views of stellar nurseries. Nebulae can also form from the remnants of dying stars, such as planetary nebulae or supernova remnants.
