3,000 Turkeys Distributed in
Triangle to Families in Need
In a heartfelt tradition of holiday giving, Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walston continued their annual “Turkeys for the Triangle” program this Thursday, distributing 3,000 turkeys to over 200 local nonprofits, military bases, and community organizations. The effort, bolstered by a generous contribution from Butterball LLC, aims to ensure thousands of families across the region can celebrate Thanksgiving with a hearty meal.
The turkeys were delivered to a wide network of recipients, including schools, food pantries, rescue missions, and military bases such as Camp Lejeune and Fort Liberty. Local organizations like the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina, Fuquay-Varina Emergency Food Pantry, and Special Olympics also received support, highlighting the wide-reaching impact of the initiative.
Beyond Thanksgiving, the agency plans to host another giveaway closer to Christmas, extending their commitment to addressing food insecurity. To sustain these efforts, Coldwell Banker agents and staff are selling raffle tickets through December, with proceeds funding the program. Tickets are available for $5 each or five for $20, inviting the community to contribute to this meaningful cause.
As the holiday season unfolds, “Turkeys for the Triangle” exemplifies the spirit of giving, reminding the region of the power of collective action to support neighbors in need.

Banana Taped to Wall Fetches
$6.2 Million in Landmark Auction
Maurizio Cattelan’s conceptual artwork Comedian, a banana duct-taped to a wall, sold for $6.2 million at Sotheby’s in New York, reigniting debates about the value and definition of art.
Cryptocurrency entrepreneur Justin Sun secured the work, purchasing a certificate of authenticity granting him the right to recreate the installation. Since its debut in 2019, Comedian has been both celebrated and critiqued for its provocative simplicity and its commentary on the art market.
Sun’s plans to eat the banana add another layer of performance to the artwork, echoing the piece’s initial controversy when a festivalgoer consumed the original fruit. Sotheby’s hailed Cattelan as a disruptor in contemporary art, praising the piece for bridging art, memes, and popular culture.
The auction took place a day after Christie’s sold René Magritte’s The Empire of Light for $121.2 million, setting a record for the surrealist artist. The sale highlights the evolving art market, where traditional masterpieces coexist with conceptual provocations like Comedian. Read Full Report
