RSV Poses a Growing Threat
to Older Adults This Winter
As flu and COVID-19 dominate seasonal health concerns, RSV quietly remains a dangerous respiratory threat for older adults, resulting in thousands of hospitalizations and deaths annually.
The CDC recommends the newly available RSV vaccine for those over 75 and for individuals 60-74 with chronic illnesses. Recognizing RSV can be difficult due to its similarity to other respiratory viruses, but common symptoms include congestion, cough, fever, and fatigue.
RSV can lead to severe complications, particularly in older adults or those with weakened immune systems. Worrisome signs include extreme fatigue, wheezing, shortness of breath, and bluish skin, signaling the need for immediate medical care.
Without an antiviral treatment for RSV, symptom management involves over-the-counter options and staying hydrated. However, those with high blood pressure should be cautious about certain decongestants. As experts emphasize prevention, the new RSV vaccine stands as a vital tool in protecting vulnerable populations. Read Full Report

New Research Suggests Best Times to Exercise to Reduce Colorectal Cancer Risk
A recent study from the UK Biobank, involving over 86,000 participants, reveals that the timing of physical activity could influence colorectal cancer risk. The research found that exercising in both the early morning and evening was associated with an 11% reduction in cancer risk, compared to a 6% decrease for those who stayed active consistently throughout the day. The study did not find any notable benefits for midday or nighttime activity alone.
Researchers speculate that these findings may be related to the body's natural metabolic processes, which fluctuate throughout the day and can affect insulin and inflammation levels. While the study emphasizes the general benefits of physical activity, experts suggest more research is needed before making firm recommendations about specific exercise schedules. Nonetheless, regular exercise, a healthy diet, and other lifestyle changes continue to be essential in reducing cancer risk. Read Full Report

The Answer to the Cary Spotlight Hook Trivia Question👇👇👇
Nepal is the only country in the world with a non-quadrilateral flag. Its unique design consists of two stacked triangular shapes, each adorned with a distinct symbol: the upper triangle features a white moon, and the lower triangle has a white sun. The flag’s crimson color represents bravery, while the blue border symbolizes peace and harmony. This distinctive shape pays homage to the country’s Himalayan heritage and its cultural and religious traditions.
