Early Voting Closes at 3 p.m. Today: Here’s What You Need to Know
Today is the last day for in-person early voting in Wake County, with polls open until 3 p.m. Be sure to bring a photo ID, and remember same-day registration is available at early voting sites only. This election season brings the chance for voters to shape local leadership, including the choice of mayors, county commissioners, city council members, and boards of education across numerous counties.
Where to Vote: Early voting locations are open across Wake County offering convenient access in each county. Find the specific sites and hours here.
When Are the Polls Open? For this final day, polls are open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for early voters.
Wait Times: To help plan your trip to the polls, Wake County and Durham County voters can check estimated wait times if you vote in Wake County. Historically, this last day of early voting can bring heavier traffic, especially during midday hours.
Important Voter Tips: North Carolina requires a photo ID at the polls. Ensure you have yours ready to avoid delays. For those who have yet to register, same-day registration remains available at early voting sites only; this option will not be available on Election Day. Make sure you're registered. You can check here to see if you are.
Same-Day Registration: For new voters, North Carolina offers same-day registration at early voting locations. If you need to register, bring a document proving your current address, such as a driver’s license or utility bill, and be prepared to vote immediately afterward.
With the clock ticking down on early voting, North Carolinians are encouraged to act quickly, keeping today’s limited hours in mind. Make sure your voice is heard and take advantage of this final day to vote ahead of Election Day.

Town Becomes “Carey” for a Day to Celebrate Mariah Carey and Holiday Spirit

For one festive day, the town of Cary, NC, embraced a new spelling—“Carey”—to honor Mariah Carey, the Grammy-winning “Queen of Christmas.”
The celebration began with Carey herself joining Mayor Harold Weinbrecht on a local radio show to kick off the holiday season. Mayor Weinbrecht issued a proclamation praising Carey’s classic hit, “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” for its role in spreading holiday cheer worldwide. The tribute underscored Cary’s dedication to sharing joy, love, and togetherness with the community, resonating with the holiday spirit inspired by Carey’s song.
The celebration doesn’t end there. On Nov. 22, Downtown Cary Park will host “Mariah Careyoke,” a karaoke event where fans can belt out Carey’s greatest hits for a chance to win tickets to her Raleigh Christmas concert.
This special event, hosted by Mix 101.5’s popular radio personalities, will lead into Carey’s live holiday show at the Lenovo Center on Dec. 9, where tickets are now available. Until then, Cary will savor the holiday magic, celebrating the legacy and joy Carey’s music brings to fans near and far. Read Full Report

Fraud Alert: Raleigh Police Warn of Fake Election Canvassing
Police in Raleigh are urging voters to be cautious following reports of a fraudulent canvasser attempting to deceive residents with false voting information.
The suspect is distributing door hangers with a QR code linked to a fraudulent ballot, falsely claiming that voting can be completed by phone. This behavior, which police have identified as a Class I felony, involves a dark blue Nissan sedan with California plates.
Authorities are advising residents to stay alert, use only official voting resources, and report any sightings or suspicious activity to the Raleigh Police Department (call 919-829-1911). Read Full Report

The Answer to the Cary Spotlight Hook Trivia Question👇👇👇
Starfish, or sea stars, possess the remarkable ability to clone themselves through a process called fragmentation. When a starfish loses an arm, it can regenerate not only the missing limb but, in some species, even an entire new starfish can grow from the separated arm. This ability to regenerate and, in essence, clone themselves, serves as both a defense mechanism and a way to maintain population. This unique adaptation makes the starfish a fascinating example of resilience and regenerative biology in the animal kingdom.
For more information about starfish and their cloning abilities, you can visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium page on sea stars.
