Courage Fight Back to Draw with Bay FC, Staying Unbeaten at Home
The North Carolina Courage extended their unbeaten streak at home with a 1-1 draw against Bay FC. After conceding an early goal, the Courage found themselves challenged by Bay FCβs high pressing strategy, which disrupted their possession-based play. It took time for the Courage to adjust, but they gradually regained control. Denise OβSullivanβs tenacious play set up the equalizer, with Ashley Sanchez finding the net to secure a crucial point.
In the second half, strategic substitutions added fresh energy to the team, helping to maintain the momentum and see out the draw. The result highlights the Courage's resilience and adaptability as they navigate the final stretch of the playoff race. With this hard-earned point, the Courage continue to showcase their identity as a team that fights back, even on less-than-perfect days.

Election Countdown:
Voting by Mail in Wake County
With Election Day just 48 days away on November 5, 2024, Wake County voters are preparing to cast their ballots. One convenient option available to all registered voters is absentee voting by mail. Those choosing this method need to include a photocopy of a valid photo ID with their ballot. A full list of acceptable IDs can be found on the State Board of Elections website, and there are provisions for obtaining a free voter ID if necessary.
To vote absentee, requests must be submitted by 5 p.m. on the Tuesday before Election Day. Voters have the flexibility to request their absentee ballot either through an online portal or by using a paper form. Once completed, the request form can be mailed to the Wake County Board of Elections or delivered in person to their operations center on North New Hope Road. For those who are unable to submit their own request, a near relative may do so on their behalf, provided they include their own contact information and relationship to the voter.
Once voters receive and complete their absentee ballot, it must be returned to the Board of Elections. This can be done by mail or delivered in person by a close family member. In special cases, if the voter is disabled, someone else may return the ballot, but they must sign a certification on the envelope. Importantly, North Carolina law does not permit the use of dropboxes for absentee ballots, so every ballot must be logged in when delivered. Ensuring all steps are properly followed will allow voters to have their say in this crucial election. Absentee by Mail Voting FAQs

Child Passenger Safety Week Highlights Importance of Proper Car Seat Use in North Carolina
During Child Passenger Safety Week, North Carolina organizations are focusing on ensuring children's safety in vehicles. A recent event by Safe Kids NC and the Governorβs Highway Safety Commission provided free car seat inspections, emphasizing the importance of correct installation.
In 2023, 23 children under seven died in crashes due to improper car seat use, highlighting the issue's severity. Experts note that four out of five car seats are installed incorrectly, urging parents to pay attention to seat type, installation, and the child's weight. The state has 127 permanent car seat checking stations available for assistance. Read Full Report.

The Answer to the Cary Spotlight Hook Trivia Question πππ
Lobsters have blue blood due to the presence of hemocyanin, a copper-containing protein that transports oxygen throughout their bodies. When oxygenated, hemocyanin turns blue, giving lobster blood its distinctive color.
This is different from humans, whose red blood is caused by iron-based hemoglobin. The blue blood is an adaptation that allows lobsters and other crustaceans to efficiently use oxygen in cold, low-oxygen environments like the deep sea.
For more detailed information about lobsters and their unique physiology, you can visit the Lobster Institute at the University of Maine.
