80th anniversary of D-Day. On June 6, 1944, the world witnessed one of the most significant military operations in history as Allied forces landed on the beaches of Normandy, France, marking a pivotal turn in World War II.

Police Locate Missing Fayetteville Teen Following Ashanti Alert

In Fayetteville, an intense search came to a successful conclusion when police located Tierstan Cochran, an 18-year-old who was reported missing earlier this week. Cochran had vanished from Birchwood Way under alarming circumstances, prompting authorities to issue an Ashanti Alert—an emergency response system designed to help find adults between the ages of 18 and 64 who may be in danger due to physical endangerment, abduction, or other life-threatening situations.

According to the Center for Missing Persons, evidence suggested that Cochran faced imminent danger. A preliminary investigation revealed that she was forcibly taken by individuals she knew, who then fled the area with her in a vehicle. The Fayetteville police have announced that their investigation remains ongoing and that charges against the suspects are expected soon.

Editor’s Note: The Ashanti Alert acts as a nationwide system in the United States designed to assist in locating missing adults aged 18-64 who are believed to be in serious danger due to abduction, kidnapping, or other life-threatening situations.

Named after Ashanti Billie, a 19-year-old who was tragically murdered in 2017, this alert fills the gap between Amber Alerts for children and Silver Alerts for seniors, aiming to expedite the search process and engage the public in locating endangered adults promptly.

Pride 2024 in Cary: A Citywide Celebration of Diversity and History

This June, the streets and landmarks of Cary are awash in vibrant colors as the town celebrates Pride Month 2024. Illuminated in rainbow hues, the Cary Arts Center, Downtown Cary Park, and the marquee of the Cary Theater shine as symbols of inclusivity and celebration. This annual observance marks the Stonewall Uprising of June 1969, a pivotal moment in New York that ignited a global movement for LGBTQ+ rights.

The Town of Cary is dedicated to fostering an environment of respect and diversity, honoring the contributions of the LGBTQ+ community both locally and worldwide. With June 28 recognized as Pride Day—commemorating the anniversary of Stonewall—Cary's calendar is brimming with activities.

The lineup includes film screenings at The Cary Theater, art exhibits, downtown light shows, a family-friendly Pride Ride at Trek Bicycle Cary, and several new events, ensuring there are myriad ways for residents and visitors to engage with and celebrate Pride Month.

How a Typo Can Get Your Local Event More Attention

This post caught my eye. I was Thunderstruck by the range and huge music playbook of this Classic Rock cover band. See if you can spot the typo and then enjoy the music puns that made this social media post worth sharing.

Was this typo intentional? Was it left there by design to attract attention and engagement?

We’ll never know but at least you can go and support this local business and let us know if the band played the hits from the 1070’s, 1670’s, 1770’s, 1870’s or 1970’s?

This takes the term “Classic Rock” band to a whole another level. Rock on! 🤘
