Cary Celebrates Earth Day with Arts, Films, and Community Green Initiatives
This Earth Day, the community of Cary is invited to participate in a diverse array of environmentally-focused activities aimed at supporting planetary and community well-being.
On Saturday, April 27, the Spring Daze Arts & Crafts Festival at Bond Park will showcase work from 170 North Carolina artists alongside food vendors, cultural arts, and live entertainment. Special features include Earth Day Lane, offering gardening tips, recycling information, and giveaways like compost bins and trees.
Additionally, on April 21, The Cary Theater will host an Earth Day Film Series (get free tickets) with documentaries highlighting global environmental efforts and a panel discussion to follow.
Throughout the region, more events are scheduled, including cleanups, educational booths on water conservation at the Western Wake Farmers Market (Saturday, April 20, from 8 a.m. -12 p.m.), and interactive festivals in nearby towns such as Apex EarthFest (Saturday, April 20, from 12 p.m. -4 p.m.) and Raleigh Arbor Day (Friday, April 19, from 5 p.m. -9 p.m.) where residents can enjoy eco-friendly entertainment, and learn about sustainability.
Cary to Celebrate Children’s Day with Performances and Crafts
As spring unfurls its colors, Cary’s Downtown Park will soon be the canvas for the vibrant Children’s Day Festival, scheduled for April 20, 2024. This event, cherished for championing the value of youthful perspectives, aims to foster an appreciation among children for the diverse cultures that shape their community. With an engaging lineup of children’s performances on stage, interactive craft activities, and a variety of entertainments, the festival promises a day full of enriching experiences for families.
The festival is a collaborative effort between the American Turkish Association of North Carolina and the Sister Cities Association of Cary, highlighting their commitment to cultural exchange and community development.
Open to the public and suitable for all ages, the event also places a strong emphasis on inclusive participation. To ensure an accommodating environment for all attendees, the park’s staff encourages visitors to communicate their individual needs through an accessibility form available on the festival’s website.
Parents and guardians are reminded that they must accompany their children for the duration of the event, underlining the festival’s family-oriented nature. Information about specific performances, activities, and available amenities like food trucks can be found through a dedicated link provided by the organizers.
Editor’s Note: Did you notice young author, Riley Lombardo is in the line up? We are so thrilled that we had the opportunity to introduce her story and her book to our audience in Cary Spotlight #156.

‘All My Rage’ Explores Deep Bonds and Cultural Rifts
In "All My Rage," Sabaa Tahir crafts a multigenerational saga that begins with Misbah and Toufiq’s life in Pakistan and follows their journey to the U.S. where they hope to find renewal.
The narrative then shifts focus to their son, Salahudin, and his close friend Noor, who both navigate personal and familial crises in the backdrop of their small Californian town.
This deeply emotional novel explores themes of forgiveness, resilience, and the enduring bonds of friendship amid adversity, securing accolades and bestseller status for its compelling storytelling.
Just curious…
