South Carolina Completes Perfect Season with Triumph Over Iowa in NCAA Championship

Under the strategic direction of Coach Dawn Staley, the South Carolina Gamecocks claimed their third national title in eight years by defeating Iowa 87-75, completing an undefeated season.

Kamilla Cardoso's exceptional performance, marked by 15 points and 17 rebounds, played a pivotal role in the victory. Iowa's Caitlin Clark, despite her record-setting performance and contributing significantly to the sport's growth, fell short of clinching the championship.

The game underscored South Carolina's resilience, having rebuilt the team to perfection after last season's loss to Iowa, and celebrated the profound impact of teamwork, leadership, and dedication in collegiate sports.  Read Full Story

Poe Hall Cancer Scare Escalates: Cases Hit 164, Drawing International Media Attention

An investigative report by WRAL's 5 On Your Side has uncovered a disturbing rise in cancer cases associated with NC State University's Poe Hall, now totaling 164.

The story has gained international attention, highlighting concerns over the presence of cancer-causing chemicals in the building.

Over a third of these cases involve breast cancer, with incidence rates notably higher than those of the surrounding area. Although the connection between the PCBs found in Poe Hall and the cancer diagnoses is still under investigation, the university's approach to communicating risks to former occupants has been met with criticism.

This ongoing health crisis underscores the urgent need for transparency and answers from educational institutions regarding potential environmental hazards. Read Full Story

Green Hope High Seeks New Direction in Football Program as Coach Tolbert Resigns

Chris Tolbert's tenure as head football coach at Green Hope High School has come to an end, with his resignation announced today.

During his time, the Falcons struggled, achieving a 2-8 record in both seasons under his leadership. His departure comes at a time when the school's football program faces challenges, including a thinner talent pool following the establishment of Green Level High School.

Green Hope's football history includes more successful periods, with notable seasons under coaches David Green, Kwame Dixon, and Tim Pauluzzi. The search for Tolbert's replacement is underway, with the school aiming to restore its competitive edge in the 4A Southwest Wake Athletic Conference.

The Answer to the Cary Spotlight Hook Trivia Question πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡
National Mature Women’s Day has been celebrated on April 9 since 2021. It’s a special holiday for the special older women in our lives β€” a day to recognize mature and confident women.

Registered by famed makeup artist Laura Geller, it throws the spotlight on women who can be role models and influencers in their own right. It’s also a good time for older women to start learning about self-love and to embrace a positive attitude towards aging.

This day is all about reminding women that they are special regardless of their advancing years. We celebrate all mature women today!
