Health Crisis at NC State: Over 150 Cancer Cases Linked to Campus Building

A serious health concern has emerged at North Carolina State University, with more than 150 cancer cases reported by former students.

These cases are potentially connected to Poe Hall, where tests uncovered PCB levels far exceeding EPA safety standards.

The university responded by sealing off the building and initiating an investigation, which has drawn in both state and national health authorities.

The difficulty in identifying cancer clusters complicates the situation, with investigations ongoing to determine the link between the PCB exposure and the cancer diagnoses. Read full story

Wake County's New Beacon of Hope: Affordable Cottages in Idlewild

The Raleigh Area Land Trust has unveiled a plan to develop affordable housing in Wake County's historic Idlewild neighborhood, addressing the critical need for accessible homeownership options.

With an $8.3 million budget, the project will introduce 18 affordable cottagesβ€”14 for sale and four as rentalsβ€”targeting families with incomes between 50 to 80 percent of the area's median.

This initiative, supported by Raleigh and Wake County, is part of a broader vision to construct 100 homes over five years, aiming to preserve the neighborhood's cultural heritage while offering a sustainable solution to the housing affordability crisis.

The Answer to the Cary Spotlight Hook Trivia Question πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡
National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day is on April 2, and we couldn’t be more excited! Mostly popular in the U.S., peanut butter and jelly may seem like an odd combination to some, but it sure is a great snack. The best part is the many combinations of this classic β€” choosing different flavors of jelly or alternating between creamy and crunchy peanut butter.
