Grow-Your-Own Programs: North Carolina's Answer to the Teacher Recruitment Crisis
North Carolina is pioneering partnerships between educational institutions to combat teacher shortages through innovative recruitment and retention strategies. Grow-your-own programs and policy recommendations aim to revitalize the educator pipeline amidst challenges like pay disparities and workforce diversity.
The Public School Forum of North Carolina has highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts among universities, community colleges, and school districts in addressing the teacher shortage crisis.
Despite facing significant challenges, including below-average teacher pay and a lack of diversity among educators compared to the student population, these initiatives offer a roadmap for long-term improvements in teacher recruitment and retention.

NWSL Ushers in Era of Expansion and Innovation as Season 12 Kicks Off
The NWSL is entering its 12th season, rejuvenated with new teams in Bay FC and the Utah Royals, and an expansive media rights deal.
This development follows a period of reconstruction after a coaching scandal, with Commissioner Jessica Berman optimistic about the league's direction.
The season begins with the Challenge Cup and continues with the regular season's kick-off game broadcast on ABC. Efforts to enhance player safety and fan engagement have led to increased game attendance and viewership.
