Question: Who was USA' first female governor?
(Answer at the bottom of the newsletter.)
I'm 63 With $1.5M. Can I Spend $10K a Month?
You’ve saved $1.5 million. Now comes the real test.
Can it produce $10,000 a month, or will that pace drain your portfolio?
Most retirees do not get a clear answer until it is too late.
The issue is not just how much you have. It is whether your portfolio was built to pay you, not just grow.
That difference can determine whether your money lasts decades or starts breaking down early.
Sequence of returns, taxes on withdrawals, healthcare costs, and whether the 4% rule still applies all play a role.
Fiduciary advisors created a breakdown showing what drives sustainable income and why the same $1.5M can produce very different outcomes.
If you have $1M or more invested, do not guess.

Triangle College Campuses Fill Up as Students Head Back to Class
College campuses across the Triangle are filling up again as students return for the fall semester.
NC State has more than 38,000 students enrolled this year, including approximately 6,100 new students. University leaders are encouraging freshmen to get involved and build connections as they adjust to campus life.
Wake Tech is also seeing record growth, with 30,000 degree-seeking students and 10,000 first-time students. Overall enrollment at the community college stands at approximately 76,000.
UNC-Chapel Hill students returned to classes Monday as well, while Duke University will begin its fall semester Aug. 24.

Could Wake County Schools Be Next to Cut Classroom Screen Time?
Some North Carolina schools are cutting student screen time and bringing back more paper, pencils, printed books, and face-to-face learning, while Wake County parents and educators consider similar changes.
North Carolina school districts are beginning to rethink how frequently students should use laptops during the school day.
Granville County has taken one of the strongest approaches, establishing two technology-free days each week and removing individually assigned devices from younger grades. District leaders say they want technology to be used when it improves learning rather than simply because it is available.
Chapel Hill-Carrboro is also reducing unnecessary screen use, while state education officials have issued guidance encouraging schools to be more intentional about when and why students use devices.
Wake County has not adopted a similar policy, but the debate is growing locally. Some parents are advocating for less classroom technology and tighter controls on artificial intelligence, while district leaders have previously discussed reducing devices for younger students. Read Full Story

Houston’s Late Winner Sinks Courage
The North Carolina Courage saw a pair of leads slip away Sunday night, falling 3-2 to the Houston Dash in front of 7,031 fans at First Horizon Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park. The loss snapped the Courage’s recent momentum and moved their season record to 9-7-3.
⚽ Schlegel gets Courage started: Ally Schlegel opened the scoring in the 37th minute, knocking home a rebound for her third goal of the season. Houston answered five minutes later when former UNC standout Kate Faasse tied the match.
🔥 Ijeh reaches double digits: Evelyn Ijeh restored North Carolina’s lead in the 51st minute, finishing a cross from Schlegel for her 10th goal of the season. Ijeh and Ashley Sanchez, who has 11 goals, became just the third pair of NWSL teammates to reach double-digit goals in the same season.
💔 Houston steals it late: Substitute Clarissa Larisey scored twice in the second half, including the stoppage-time winner, turning a 2-1 Courage advantage into a heartbreaking 3-2 defeat.
⭐ Milestones in Cary: Sanchez surpassed 10,000 NWSL regular-season minutes, becoming the 71st player in league history to reach the mark. Schlegel also recorded a goal and an assist in the same match for the first time in her NWSL career.
It wasn’t the ending Cary fans wanted, but with Ijeh and Sanchez piling up goals, the Courage attack continues to give the home crowd plenty to watch.
