Community Alert: 16-Year-Old Girl Missing in Cary, Police Request Help

The Cary Police Department has issued a public appeal for help in finding 16-year-old Alicia Anderson, a Hispanic female who was last seen on Friday in Cary.

Alicia is 5 feet 3 inches tall and was wearing a black hoodie, red and black plaid pajama pants, and carrying a pink backpack, along with her characteristic rosary. The police are urging the public to assist in ensuring her safe return.

Anyone with information on Anderson's location is asked to contact the Cary Police Department at (919) 469-4012 or Cary Crimestoppers at (919) 460-4636.

Over 200 Sea Turtles Treated in N.C. Following Unseasonable Cold

In response to the recent cold snap on the East Coast, over 200 sea turtles, primarily juvenile green, loggerhead, and Kemp's ridley, have been rescued and are undergoing treatment at North Carolina Aquariums.

These turtles were rendered immobile due to a hypothermic state caused by the sudden temperature drop. The N.C. Aquarium at Roanoke Island and the Pine Knoll Shores aquarium are at the forefront of these efforts, providing extensive care, including nutritional support and medical treatment.

The rehabilitation process, involving several organizations and specialists, has successfully led to the release of 63 turtles so far. The initiative is a coordinated effort by various federal, state, and private entities dedicated to wildlife conservation. Read full story

Crackdown on Human Trafficking in Cary: Woman Charged in Massage Parlor Case

A New York woman, Hong Yu Li, has been charged with human trafficking and promoting prostitution at Moon Aroma Therapy in Cary.

Arrest warrants accuse Li of compelling massage therapists to perform sexual acts for additional payments, with profits collected nightly. Li's relationship to the business is not definitively established in state records.

This case coincides with an intensified effort to combat human trafficking in the Raleigh-Cary area, spearheaded by a new task force launched in 2023. Read full story
