NC State Auditor Beth Wood Guilty of Personal Use of State Vehicle

State Auditor Beth Wood of North Carolina admitted to misusing a state vehicle for personal purposes, including shopping and spa visits, between January 2021 and December 2022.

Following a grand jury indictment, she received a sentence of one year of unsupervised probation and a suspended 45-day jail term, contingent on not violating probation.

The plea comes after a separate hit-and-run incident earlier in the year involving the same state car. Wood's attorney stated she accepts responsibility for this mistake, which is particularly notable given her role in overseeing the appropriate use of state resources. Read Full Story
