Inmates' Quick Thinking Praised in Wake County Detention Officer's Rescue

School Employees Win $165 Million in Landmark PCB Exposure Case Against Monsanto

Bayer's Monsanto has been directed by a jury to pay $165 million to six teachers and a custodian from Sky Valley Education Center in Monroe, Washington, for health issues linked to PCB exposure.

These chemicals, which were banned in 1979 due to health and environmental risks, were found leaking from the school's light fixtures.

The jury awarded $50 million in compensatory and $115 million in punitive damages, contributing to Monsanto's cumulative $870 million in verdicts related to PCB exposure. Small Business Saturday: A Rallying Call for Local Entrepreneurship

Small Business Saturday, set for November 25th, is a significant celebration of local entrepreneurship in the U.S., emphasizing the importance of small businesses in local economies and communities.

Initiated by American Express in 2010, this day witnessed a record $17.9 billion spent in 2022 and has the support of the U.S. Small Business Administration.

There has been historic rise in entrepreneurship, with 14 million new small business applications.

The day encourages Americans to support local businesses, with a notable increase in consumer motivation to shop at small, independently-owned businesses throughout the year.

Cary's Small Business Saturday Market

The "Small Business Saturday Shop Local Market" will be held at Gather Goods Co on Kildaire Farm Road in Cary, NC, starting at 11:00 AM on Saturday.

The event will provide a unique opportunity for the community to support over seven local women-owned businesses. More than a traditional market, will serve as a lively open house, allowing residents to explore and purchase unique, handcrafted items while directly supporting local entrepreneurs.

It will underscore the importance of local businesses in enriching the community's economic and social fabric and will highlight Cary's dedication to fostering a robust local economy, with a particular focus on women entrepreneurs.
