New Social District and Urban Park Set to Revitalize Downtown Cary
Downtown Cary Park, costing $68 million and spanning nearly seven acres, is opening in Cary, NC, after a 20-year planning and construction period.
Local businesses like Cotton House Craft Brewers and Howdy Homemade Ice Cream anticipate increased customer interest due to the park's proximity and uniqueness.
A new social district will also debut, allowing adults to carry open containers of alcohol. Celebrations for the park's opening will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony, live music, food trucks, and other attractions. Learn more about Downtown Cary Park.
IRS Boosts Gift Tax Exclusion to $18,000
For 2024, the IRS has raised the annual gift tax exclusion to $18,000 per recipient, allowing married couples to gift up to $36,000 tax-free.
Concurrently, the limit for combined gift and estate taxes will increase to $13,610,000. These higher limits offer significant opportunities for estate planning but are temporary and will expire at the end of 2025. Individuals are encouraged to seek professional advice to effectively use these increased limits for estate and gift tax planning.

Series of Bank Robberies in Raleigh Sparks Police Manhunt
Two bank robberies in Raleigh, occurring at First National Bank and Truist Bank on Creedmoor Road, are believed to be connected to a single suspect.
In both instances, the suspect handed a teller a note demanding money and implied possession of a weapon, though none was seen. The Raleigh Police have responded with a K-9 unit search and are seeking public assistance in identifying the suspect.
