More High-Paying Jobs Are Coming To Wake County with Forge Nano's Battery Manufacturing Venture
Forge Nano, Inc. plans to establish a lithium-ion battery manufacturing division, Forge Battery, in Morrisville, North Carolina, with more than $165 million in investment.
Set to be operational by 2026, the facility aims to generate many high-paying jobs in Wake County.
The Colorado-based company will leverage its Atomic Armor technology to enhance battery performance, offering products with higher energy density and safety while reducing manufacturing costs.
This initiative is part of a broader movement in Wake County towards advanced manufacturing, supported by strong public-private partnerships and a skilled workforce. The project, backed by multiple state and local organizations, aligns with the region's economic development goals.

Cary’s Railroad Crossing Closure and New Bridge: NCDOT’s Plan for Safer Roads
The NCDOT is planning to close the Trinity Road railroad crossing near WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, citing safety concerns.
The proposal includes building a bridge over the railroad tracks and East Chatham Street, and a new spur road within the soccer park to connect Trinity Road to East Chatham Street, at an estimated cost of $54.3 million.
This project will displace four businesses. The department will present these plans in a public meeting and collect feedback. The design work is scheduled to start next year and may take two years.
Financial constraints mean the actual construction is not expected to start before 2029. The project includes realigning Trinity Road and adding a bike lane and sidewalk, aligning with Cary's long-term infrastructure plans. This initiative is part of a regional effort to improve safety and traffic flow by eliminating railroad crossings between Raleigh and Cary.
The public meeting on the Trinity Road project will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Herbert C. Young Community Center at 101 Wilkinson Ave. in Cary. The public can also weigh in at ncdot.publicinput.com/u4216; by email to [email protected] or by phone, 984-205-6615, project code 4495. Read full story here.
