Rodent Poop Taints Triangle’s Stellar Restaurant Inspection
In a recent inspection of Triangle's dining establishments, concerns over hygiene and health standards have come to light. During the October 25-31 inspections in Wake County, (almost) all restaurants achieved commendable A grades, signifying a score of at least 90%.
However, Justin’s Restaurant & Bar in Durham stood out with a score of 80.5%, having breached 19 health standards. The inspection revealed a concerning rodent infestation, with chewed food bags and droppings found on walls and equipment. Additionally, the establishment had set up peanut butter rat traps to counter the issue. This score contrasts their previous grades of 94.5% in April and 83% in February 2023.
NCDOT Unveils Findings from Cary's Autonomous Shuttle Test
The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) recently disclosed findings from their autonomous shuttle test, named CASSI, in Cary's Bond Park. The test ran from March 6 to June 2. While most riders had a positive experience, some raised concerns about the shuttle's abrupt stops. The shuttle's introduction led to an increase in trips within the park and even replaced some personal vehicle journeys. The report, available on both Cary's Open Data Portal and NCDOT's site, emphasized the need for more advanced testing and community involvement in future automated vehicle projects.

❄️From Frost to Hard Freeze: Deciphering Warnings and Warding Off Winter Woes
Local experts urge residents to protect the five Ps: People, plants, pets, pools, and pipes from the cold. Frozen pipes can cause expensive damage. Simple preventative measures, like insulation and new technology, can help avoid catastrophes.
Understanding the difference between frost, freeze, and hard freeze advisories is crucial.
A Frost Advisory is typically issued when prolonged frost is anticipated, potentially threatening sensitive plants. A Freeze Warning signifies temperatures dipping to or below freezing, endangering crops and signaling an end to many plants' growing season.
The more severe Hard Freeze Warning is issued when temperatures are expected to drop below 28°, necessitating comprehensive winterization measures and signaling the cessation of the growing season.

Girls on Ice: How the Carolina Hurricanes Are Shaping Future Hockey Stars
The NHL's Carolina Hurricanes have been instrumental in promoting hockey, especially among young girls. The Junior Canes girls' U10 team, frequently seen at Hurricanes' games, symbolizes this growth. Since relocating from Hartford in 1997, the Hurricanes have been pivotal in enhancing hockey's appeal in the region.
McKenna Roberts, a fervent fan, embodies this enthusiasm, deeply engaging with the sport and its players. The Hurricanes, through community endeavors and the First Goal program, have nurtured this burgeoning interest. The program, which offers affordable equipment, has facilitated the rise of girls-only teams in various age groups.
The overarching sentiment is the importance of community and fostering a grassroots love for the game, ensuring a bright future for hockey in our area.

Disturbing Assault at North Carolina State Fair Under Investigation
A family was assaulted while waiting in line at the North Carolina State Fair. The Wake County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident, with an online video potentially offering crucial evidence.
On October 21st, at the North Carolina State Fair, a Wake Forest family faced a violent altercation while in line for a ride. After waiting for about an hour and witnessing several people cutting ahead, the mother confronted a group attempting the same.
This led to her and her sons, especially the nine-year-old, being assaulted. The extent of the attack on the young boy was discovered through an online video, which might prove instrumental for the Wake County Sheriff’s Office in their ongoing probe.
