Cary's Pickleball Surge: A Call for More Courts

Cary's growing pickleball community seeks more courts due to the sport's soaring popularity, prompting plans for new courts at McCrimmon Park and the upcoming Western Cary Community Center.

Cary's pickleball enthusiasts are echoing a resounding call for more courts in town. The sport, a fusion of tennis, ping pong, and badminton, has witnessed a nationwide uptick in players, with Cary emerging as a notable hub. However, the limited number of courts has forced many to play in nearby towns.

Addressing this, the town's residents recently appealed to the Town Council, underscoring pickleball's socio-economic benefits for Cary. In response to the growing demand, the town has initiated plans for additional courts at locales like McCrimmon Park and the soon-to-be-developed Western Cary Community Center.

Duke University researchers are studying the effects of psychedelics on the brain using larval zebrafish and mice, aiming to understand the mechanisms and potential therapeutic benefits.

Researchers at Duke University are delving deep into the mysteries of psychedelics and their interactions with the brain. Using larval zebrafish as a model, they are observing the effects of a compound similar to LSD to discern how it influences movement and perception.

Meanwhile, Cynthia Kuhn, PhD, a professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Cancer Biology, highlights the ongoing debate in the scientific community. The central question: Whether the hallucinogenic experiences triggered by psychedelics are essential for therapeutic outcomes or merely chemical byproducts.
