Health Alert: WanaBana Fruit Pouches Under Scrutiny for High Lead Concentrations.

North Carolina's health officials have raised concerns about elevated lead levels in WanaBana apple cinnamon fruit puree pouches, prompting a nationwide recall. The U.S. FDA, following collaborative investigations with local health departments and other agencies, has released an advisory warning against the consumption of these pouches by young children.

These pouches, which are available at major retailers like Sam’s Club, Amazon, and Dollar Tree, have been found to contain alarmingly high concentrations of lead. WanaBana has voluntarily recalled all of these pouches.

Health officials in North Carolina have issued recommendations urging consumers to dispose of these products and consult medical professionals about potential lead exposure. The FDA warns that short-term lead exposure can lead to symptoms such as headaches, abdominal pain, vomiting, and anemia. Full Story Here

Le Nu Spa, located in Cary, North Carolina, is pioneering a new tradition with its Halloween Candy Buy-Back Event. Aimed at fostering a healthier approach to the holiday, families are invited to exchange their collected Halloween candy for $2 per pound.

The event, running from November 1 to 7, seeks to shift the focus from sugary indulgence to health-conscious celebration. Colette Le, the founder of Le Nu Spa, envisions the program as a rewarding experience, especially for children who exhibit moderation in their candy intake. Through this endeavor, Le Nu Spa emphasizes the significance of well-being, even during festive occasions.

Cary Christian Wins Girls Cross Country Championships

Cary Christian triumphed at the NCISAA 3A girls cross country championships, narrowly surpassing Cape Fear Academy and Forsyth Country Day. Abby Smith from Asheville School won the individual title.

With strategic placements, four of the Knights' top runners finished within the top 20, leading them to victory. While the team accolades went to Cary Christian, the individual championship was dominated by Abby Smith of Asheville School, who finished impressively ahead of the competition, with Tori Stonebraker of Cary Christian securing the second spot.
