FDA Invests $50M in UNC & Duke for Pioneering Research Center

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is investing in public health research by allocating $50 million to UNC-Chapel Hill and Duke University. This funding will establish the Research Triangle Center of Excellence in Regulatory Science and Innovation (Triangle CERSI), making it one of only five such centers in the country.

The center's vision is to work closely with FDA scientists, with additional collaborations from NC State and NC Central (NCCU). The goal is to streamline the approval processes for new medicines and medical devices. The universities have proposed 38 research projects, covering diverse areas like machine learning and pediatric pharmacology. The center's potential is highlighted by the significant contributions of UNC and Duke during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Clemson vs. North Carolina State: A Battle for Redemption

Clemson and North Carolina State are gearing up for a pivotal ACC game this Saturday. Both teams aim to rebound from recent setbacks, with Clemson recovering from an overtime loss to Miami and North Carolina State trying to break a two-game ACC losing streak. The game will spotlight Clemson's QB, Cade Klubnik, against North Carolina State's robust defense. Notable players include Clemson's Jake Briningstool and North Carolina State's Kevin “KC” Concepcion. Additionally, both head coaches, Dabo Swinney and Dave Doeren, are nearing significant coaching milestones. Historically, Clemson has shown resilience after losses, but North Carolina State hopes to replicate their rare win against Clemson from two years ago.
