Cary Police Host Safety Event at Walmart

Join the Cary Police Department at the Walmart parking lot located at 2750 NC 55 Highway, Cary, N.C., starting 9 a.m. for a safety awareness session. Cary Teen with Leukemia Champions Fundraising and Awareness

Reese Roper, a Cary teen diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, recently made a poignant return to the volleyball court at Green Level High School, receiving a standing ovation from fans. Despite her health challenges, Reese has been proactive in raising awareness and funds for leukemia research.

Green Level High School hosted an "Orange" game in honor of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, where fans donated directly to the cause instead of paying traditional game admission. With raffles and a silent auction, the team has successfully raised $12,205 for the organization. Reese's team is currently ranked third among top community and school teams in the nationwide "Light the Night" fundraiser, which aims to raise $1.9 million.
